The Botanical Garden was inspired and founded by Carlos III in 1781 "for the health and recreation of his subjects" as can be read at the main entrance. Visit it with your expert guide and enjoy a stunning floral walk through Spanish history from colonial times to date. The beauty of the layout that has come down to our times has made it one of the most unusual botanic gardens in Europe.

In their nearly four hundred years of existence, the Retiro Park has witnessed many events and have undergone many vicissitudes, from the holding of great parties and theatrical performances to abandonment and destruction at the time of the Peninsular War. Elements like the lake, with the monument to Alfonso XII, the Velázquez House and the Crystal Palace, the Rose Garden and the Flowerbeds, which has one of the oldest trees in Madrid, the taxodium mucronatum, are outstanding

The Capricho Park was created at the end of the 18th century by the Countess-Duchess of Benavente. It is one of the most outstanding and unusual examples of a landscaped garden in Spain being a synthesis of Italian and French influences with romantic charm. In spring you can walk among lilac woods and cascades of roses.

The Campo del Moro was possibly the place where the Muslim armies that besieged Madrid between the years 1100 and 1200 camped. It was a royal hunting lodge and a place for jousts and tournaments until end of the 19th century.

Architect Sachetti and Sabatini designed a beautiful garden for the Royal Palace that was never constructed. After centuries of the area being used for the royal stables, now a large circular fountain with tritons surrounded with quadrants and conifer trees, with lines of trees aligned can be finally enjoyed. The Sabatini Garden is a neoclassical style garden in accordance to the Royal Palace and dignified a space previously spoilt by the stable buildings
