Explore then the nearby Cross at the Valley of the Fallen where Franco is buried. This grandiose funeral monument was built between 1940 and 1956 in memory of the victims of the Spanish Civil War that started in 1936. It is made up of an immense stone cross and a basilica, built into the inside of the rock.
