
King Philip V retired to the La Granja in 1724, and over the following twenty years enlarged the gardens and the palace. La Granja used as a Summer Residence by the Royal Family until the beginning of the 20th century. The Gardens are one of the best examples of 18th-century design preserved today. The Royal Glass Factory founded in the 18th made all the glass for the palaces of the Royal Family. Nowadays is still a working factory that is a pleasure to visit.
The old town of Segovia and its Roman aqueduct have been declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The famous Aqueduct, a multitude of medieval churches, the Cathedral the old Jewish quarter and the Alcazar fortress make up the majestic landscape of this historical city where Isabel was crowned as Queen of Castilla.
